On Saturday, April 2, Butler students, along with the community, were given the chance to enjoy the third annual Free College Class Day.

Free College Class Day was held on the El Dorado campus, along with Marion, Andover and Rose Hill campuses.

Over 150 classes were available, ranging from one to two hour sessions. Students and community members could take classes such as Digital Photography, Power Point and How to Cut a Shopping List in Half.

This year's instructor speaker was Butler President Jackie Vietti. Vietti taught a leadership class with Susan Pfeifer,Butler math instructor.

"My favorite part of Free College Class Day is two-fold," Vietti said, "for the wonderful opportunity it affords Butler to give back to our communities and, the ability it creates to introduce Butler to those who do not yet know us, so that when they choose to pursue their college educations through Buter, they already have a comfort level with us and realize how much we care about their future success."

Other guest speakers included Todd Ramsey and Jared Brickman. Both men are social media minds and know all the tricks and trades of the cyber world.

Brickman taught three classes on Saturday, beginning with How to Build Your Own Website, and Digital Marketing. In Brickman's Digital Marketing course, he avoided websites such as Facebook and Twitter. Brickman wanted to open the participants' mind on how many other social media sites are on the web. His last class was how to manage your band.

Ghost Hunting 101 was taught by Butler instructor Skylar Joyner and Linda Clarke, mental health counselor, and Wichita Paranormal. During this hour long course, participants learned about the equipment used in ghost hunting.

Participants also learned how to use an Electronic Voice Phenomena, and take pictures of orbs.

"Ghost hunting has always been a hobby for me. This was a good time to educate people on how to use the equipment and how to look for what they want to find," Clarke said.

Approximately 24 people attended this class. For more information about Wichita Paranormal, go to www.wichitaparanormal.com.

Free College Class Day ended with a good turnout for a wide variety of classes.
